This air fryer honey mustard salmon adds a sweet tangy flavor while keeping the fish moist inside with a light crisp on the outside.

This recipe has quickly become a weeknight favorite in our home. The simple honey mustard glaze works just as well on chicken or shrimp if you feel like switching things up.

equipment
- I used my Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air fryer but feel free to use your favorite air fryer model.
- Measuring cups and spoons.
- For easier cleaning, you can opt to use air fryer parchment paper liners.
ingredients needed
- 4 salmon fillets (4-8 oz each, about 115–230 g).
- Salt and pepper to taste.
- Honey - you can also substitute this with maple syrup.
- Dijon mustard
- Minced garlic or garlic powder - Fresh minced garlic gives a stronger flavor. Garlic powder is a good option if you want a milder flavor.
- Onion powder.
- Paprika - smoked or sweet.
- Lemon juice.
See the recipe card below for the exact ingredient measurements.
how to make it
- Preheat air fryer to 200°C (390°F) for 5 minutes.
- I like to start by patting the salmon dry. You are then going to season it with salt and pepper.
- Mix honey, Dijon mustard, garlic, onion powder, paprika, and lemon juice in a bowl.
- Brush glaze over salmon fillets.
- Place salmon in air fryer basket, skin-side down, in a single layer.
- Cook at 200°C (390°F) for 7–9 minutes, depending on thickness, until salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches 145°F (63°C).
- Serve.

refrigeration and freezing
Store leftover salmon in an airtight container in the fridge for 3–4 days.
Reheat in the air fryer at 180°C (350°F) for 3- 4 minutes, or until warmed through.
For longer storage, wrap the cooked salmon tightly in a freezer-safe container, label and date the container, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.
to rest or not to rest the fish
Fish does not need to rest the way red meat does. It can be served right after cooking once it reaches 145°F (63°C).
If you are worried about overcooking, you can take the salmon out a minute early and let it sit loosely covered with foil. The residual heat will finish the cooking.
serving suggestions
Serve this salmon straight from the air fryer with a squeeze of fresh lemon. It pairs well with simple sides like grilled zucchini, air fryer green beans or air fryer brussel sprouts.

Equipment
Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets 4–8 oz each, about 115 - 230 g
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoon honey
- 2 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 2-3 cloves minced garlic (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 200°C (390°F) for 5 minutes.
- Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, whisk honey, Dijon mustard, garlic, onion powder, paprika, and lemon juice until smooth.
- Brush the glaze over the top of each salmon fillet. For the best flavor, marinate the fish in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
- Place salmon fillets in the air fryer basket in a single layer, skin-side down.
- Air fry at 200°C (390°F) for 7- 9 minutes depending on the thickness, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Ensure the fish has reached an internal temperature of at least 145°F (63°C) before serving.
Notes
- Use an internal read thermometer to check whether your fish is safe to eat - salmon is safe to eat once it reaches an internal temperatue of 145°F (63°C).
