These air fryer falafels turn out crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and are packed with so much flavour. The cleanup is much easier too, no thawing needed at all!

So grab your air fryer if you enjoy having falafel with a crisp exterior, without having to deal with a pot of oil and let's get to it!

ingredients

For this recipe, you only need frozen falafels. I used a brand I bought from my local Mediterranean shop, but any frozen falafel brand will work.

I also sprayed my falafels with a little cooking oil. I tested this recipe with and without the oil, and found that the ones cooked without it were a bit crumbly and dry.

It could have something to do with the brand I used. You can leave the oil out if you prefer.

how to make air fryer frozen falafel

Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

Place the frozen falafels in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Make sure they are not overcrowded so they cook evenly.

Air fry for 10 minutes, until heated through and crispy to your liking.

Once done, transfer to a plate and serve.

love your leftovers

Store leftover falafel in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

To reheat, place them back in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for about 4 to 5 minutes, or until warmed through and crisp again.

frequently asked questions

Can I cook frozen falafels at 200°C?

Yes you can. Simply air fry them in your preheated air fryer for 7-8 minutes until heated through and slightly crisp outside.

Do I need to thaw frozen falafels before cooking?

No. Cook them straight from frozen. This helps them keep their shape and makes the process quicker.

How do I keep falafels from drying out in the air fryer?

A light spray of cooking oil helps keep them moist and improves browning. Cooking them just until heated through also helps prevent them from drying out.
