I like to celebrate asparagus season by making as much of it as I can, because as we all know, it doesn't last all year long.
One of my favorite recipes is this lemony and delicious air fryer garlic Parmesan asparagus. It turns out perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside in just minutes.

ingredients you will need
Here is what you will need:-
- 1 bunch of fresh green asparagus (approximately 450 grams / 1 pound): look for firm, bright green stalks with tightly closed tips.
- Parmesan cheese.
- garlic salt (adjust to taste): you can adjust the amount based on your preference for saltiness.
- olive oil.
- some lemon juice and extra Parmesan cheese for serving.
how to trim the stalks
Trim about 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5 cm) off the ends of the asparagus. The exact amount depends on how tough the ends feel - trim until you reach the tender part of the stalk.
A good way to gauge this is to bend one stalk; it will naturally break where the tough part ends and the tender part begins.
You can read more about trimming asparagus the right way here.
air frying temperature
I like to use 400°F (200°C).
cooking time
Air fry for 7-9 minutes. The exact time will depend on your preference, but I find 7-9 minutes to be the sweet spot for asparagus that’s crispy on the outside yet tender on the inside.
loving your leftovers
Store leftover asparagus in the fridge for 3-4 days.
serving suggestions
Pair your air fried asparagus with the following dishes:-
- Slow cooker Mexican chicken and rice
- Air fryer rotisserie chicken
- Slow cooker chicken cacciatore
- Air fryer pork chops
- Air fryer tilapia
Wine pairings:-
Sauvignon Blanc and Grüner Veltliner are ideal pairings for asparagus, offering acidity and herbal notes that complement its flavors.
Pinot Grigio is a lighter option, while unoaked Chardonnay works well, especially with richer accompaniments like Parmesan.
