how to make frozen garlic bread in the Ninja Foodi air fryer
The best part about this air fryer recipe is that you go from freezer to done, without having to thaw! Here is how to go about it:-
- Depending on the air fryer you are using, preheat your air fryer to 360°F / 180°C (see useful tips below).
- Cut the frozen garlic bread diagonally, into slices each about 1 inch (3cm) thick. Alternatively, cut the bread lengthwise in two, then cut again in the middle so you have 4 pieces. (Obviously, you want to skip the slicing if using pre-sliced bread)!
- Place the bread with the buttered side facing upwards inside your air fryer basket.
- Air fry until done, checking midway through cooking.
Tip: You will know it is done once the butter has melted completely, the edges start to look crisp, and the bread has a golden brown color.

what to serve with air fryer frozen garlic bread
Some of my favorite ways to serve air fryer garlic bread include:-
useful tips
- some air fryers do not require preheating. Depending on the manufacturer's instructions that come with your air fryer, you can choose to preheat it or not.
- this recipe was created using the Ninja Foodi Max Multicooker but you can also use it for other air fryers. The cooking time will depend on the type of air fryer you are using, so always check mid-cooking and adjust the temperature accordingly.
- you do not need to use any oil.
- place the garlic bread in a single layer in your air fryer basket, and do not stack or overcrowd it.
variations
- Caprese-style - simply top with slices of mozzarella, air fry until the cheese melts then top with fresh basil, tomato slices, salt, pepper, and some balsamic vinegar.
- Greek-style - topped with some sliced olives, a drizzle of olive oil, and onions.
- Italian way - top your garlic bread with some homemade marinara sauce and slices of cheese then air fry until the cheese has melted.
- Other variations - you can also top your frozen garlic bread with chopped fresh herbs such as rosemary, drizzle with olive oil, or simply spread some crumbled feta or parmesan cheese on it.
refrigeration and freezing
- Refrigeration - store leftover garlic bread in a suitable airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
- Freezing - it is ok to refreeze your cooked garlic bread (read more about freezing and food safety here). Kept in suitable freezer-friendly containers, the garlic bread will keep for up to 3 months. Just bear in mind that the taste tends to deteriorate the longer the bread stays in the freezer.
reheating frozen garlic bread
Wondering whether you can reheat garlic bread? The answer is yes.
- reheating room temperature or refrigerated garlic bread: preheat your air fryer at 370°F and cook for about 1-2 minutes, or until they are warmed through.
- to reheat frozen garlic bread (previously cooked from frozen): - just pop the bread back in the air fryer and cook at 325°F (about 160°C) for 10-15 minutes, or until properly warmed through. Also, you can simply slice it and pop it in the toaster to warm.
frequently asked questions
The time and temperature it takes to cook frozen garlic bread will differ, depending on the model you are using, and the type of bread (as an example, whether you are using toast slices or a French-style baguette). Use the following air frying time and temperature as a guide, and adjust if needed. Additionally, always check on the bread mid-cooking.
• Air fry slices of toast (such as the Texas toast) at 360°F (180°C) for 5-8 minutes.
• Cook garlic bread sticks in the air fryer at 370° F ( approximately 190°C) for 6-7 minutes.
• Air fry a baguette at 360°F (180°C) for 10-12 minutes, depending on how crispy you like your bread.
You can make different types of garlic bread using your air fryer, with a few adjustments to the cooking time, depending on the size of the bread you are cooking. These include:-
• Frozen garlic baguette (made using Italian or French bread).
• Texas toast.
• Coles garlic bread, just to mention a few examples.
Your air fryer may begin to smoke if your garlic bread has too much butter. In this case, do not worry, simply add a small amount of water to the bottom of your air fryer basket.
