Ingredients and Equipment
As you can guess, you only require a few items:-
- Eggs
- Ninja Foodi air fryer - If you have checked out any of my air fryer recipes, you will know that I own a Ninja Foodi Delux XL pressure multi-cooker, which I adore!
- Kitchen spoon or tongs - to pick the cooked eggs.
- A medium-sized bowl - to place the cooked eggs in, before peeling.
How to Make Hard-Boiled Eggs in the Air Fryer
- Place the air fryer basket, trivet, or rack in the cooking pot and place the eggs on top, without stacking them. Set the temperature to 300 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 150°C) and time to 13 minutes, then air fry.
- Once the cooking time is over, use a large kitchen spoon to transfer the eggs to a bowl filled with ice-cold water (or an ice water bath, if you have some ice cubes in your freezer). Allow the eggs to cool for about 5-10 minutes before peeling.
- Once cooled, crack the bottom part of the egg using a spoon and peel. Season with some salt and pepper or with your preferred seasonings!
Cooking times
Different types of boiled eggs have different cooking times. Using a temperature of 250°F (approximately 120°C), use the following time guide:-
- Soft-boiled eggs - 13 minutes.
- Hard-boiled eggs - 16 minutes
You can also make hard-boiled eggs at a higher temperature of 300°F (150°C) for 11-12 minutes.
Air Fry Soft Boiled Eggs
Looking to make soft-boiled eggs in your air fryer and wondering whether it is possible? It certainly is possible!
- Place the air fryer basket or trivet in the cooking pot and place the eggs on top, without stacking them. Set the temperature to 300 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 150°C) and time to 9 minutes, then air fry.
- Once cooked, use a slotted spoon or tongs to transfer the eggs to an ice-water bath. Allow the eggs to cool for about 5-10 minutes before peeling.
- Peel the cooled eggs, season with some salt and pepper, or as you prefer, and serve. Leave the shells on if you prefer to eat the soft-boiled eggs later.
Using the Hard-Boiled Eggs and Some Useful Tips
Use your air fryer hard-boiled eggs to make deviled egg salad, Nicoise salads, chicken sandwiches, stuffed meatloaf, and much more! They are also perfect for meal prep as the eggs can be kept in the fridge for consumption later.
And now to my favorite tips when making boiled eggs in the air fryer:-
- The Watts of your air fryer will also have an impact on the cooking time.
- Lay the eggs in a single layer on the rack or air fryer basket without stacking, so they cook evenly.
- You do not need to preheat the air fryer before cooking.
How to Store
Hard-boiled eggs can perfectly be made ahead and kept in the fridge for up to one week. The best way to store them is with the shells on, in an airtight container. The shells seal in moisture and also prevent the eggs from picking up any odors in the fridge.
Common Questions
The answer is an absolute yes! Air frying eggs is actually a very easy hands-free method. Just like you can make boiled eggs in the oven, you do not need to use any water in cooking the eggs, as the air fryer does all the cooking!
Just like you can cook eggs in the oven, you can air fry eggs without having to worry about them exploding. Simply check the eggs and make sure they do not have any cracks on them to prevent the whites from seeping out. Also keep an eye on the timing, as they may burn if cooked for too long.
