what makes this recipe so good!

    • Has several health benefits - as you can guess, carrots come with several health benefits. You can read more about the benefits of carrot juice here. Both carrots and ginger are great for the immune system and the skin as they contain loads of vitamin A, C and E. Turmeric is rich in curcumin (the compound that gives it its yellow colour), and which is known for its anti-inflammatory properties.
    • Diet-friendly - this juice is paleo, gluten-free and whole 30-friendly. It is low-carb too, when taken in moderation.
    • It is delicious and refreshing - making it the perfect breakfast drink!
    • An all-weather drink - carrots are readily available in most supermarkets and farmers markets throughout the year, which means this orange carrot juice can be made all-year round. It definitely comes in handy as a refreshing summer drink and can be enjoyed during the colder months because of it's immune-boosting properties!

    ingredient notes

This is a simple summary, be sure to check out the detailed printable recipe card with quantities, provided at the bottom of the page.

An overhead shot of the ingredients needed to make this recipe.

Here are the ingredients you will require:-

    • Medium-sized carrots - cleaned and peeled.
    • Orange juice - I recommend making your own homemade orange juice with no sugar added, if on a paleo or whole 30 diet.
    • Water - to help with blending or processing.
    • Ginger - peeled.
    • Turmeric.
    • Honey (optional) - to sweeten the juice (feel free to skip it in order to keep the juice whole 30 compliant) or to use your favorite sweeteners.

how to make orange, carrot, ginger and turmeric juice

The good news is that you can make this carrot ginger turmeric juice using a food processor, or your regular blender. If using a blender, I recommend that you also use a muslin or clean kitchen cloth to sieve out the fibrous parts if you like your juice without the pulpy bits. Here is how to go about it:-

How to make carrot juice with turmeric, ginger and orange.

    blender method

    • Wash and peel the carrots, orange and ginger. Cut the carrots into large chunks.
    • Add the carrots, ginger, orange juice, water, turmeric, and honey (optional) to your blender and process until smooth. Feel free to add some more water or orange juice, if the juice is too thick or if you are not using a high speed blender. Sieve the juice using a sieve and a spoon, muslin, or a kitchen cloth for a smoother juice, or leave it as it is if you prefer your juice pulpy.
    • Stir, pour into glasses and enjoy or keep in the refrigirator to use later.

    using a juicer

    • Clean the carrots properly. I like to use a vegetable brush. Slice the carrots into small chunks and fit them into the chute of your juicer.
    • Push the carrots and ginger through your juicer and process until smooth. Add the orange juice, turmeric and honey to the processed juice, then use a spoon to combine.
    • Strain through a sieve or muslin cloth or simply serve it pulpy, and enjoy!

    storing

I recommend consuming the juice immediately to get the most nutritional benefits from it. If you have to make it ahead, store it in the fridge or freezer as follows:

    • In the fridge - store in the fridge using suitable airtight bottles for two to five days.
    • In the freezer - it can be frozen for 10-12 months. Just bear in mind that the taste of carrot juice tends to intensify once frozen and thawed so you may want to dilute it with water later.

    useful tips

    • Spices - these have several health benefits so by all means feel free to spice up your juice!! Other spices that go well with the carrot, turmeric and ginger combo include cinnamon, black pepper, cardamon and chili powder or paprika.
    • Fruit and vegetable variations - feel free to experiement about with the ingredients. My favorite combinations include apple, pineapple, beetroot and celery.
    • Peeling - peeling the carrots is not necessary but make sure to wash them properly if you decide not to peel them.
    • Using the pulp - preserve the pulp and use it in other recipes, such as in making soups and smoothies. The pulp can be also frozen and used later.
