Viral Tiktok Turkish pasta with yogurt.

Anna Paul shared her mum's Turkish pasta with yogurt recipe, and it's no surprise everyone was blown away! Cozy, and delicious, it is easy to see why this dish went viral.

If you saw videos of this dish on TikTok or on other social media platforms and thought, "Oh my goodness, I need to make this," then you’re in the right place. It is tasty, easy to make, protein-packed, and the chopped tomatoes make it a complete meal.

yalancı mantı

Anna Paul made this recipe popular, but eating pasta, ground meat, and yogurt is something Turkish families have been doing for years! It’s called "yalancı mantı," which translates to "imitation" or "fake mantı."

Mantı is a traditional Turkish dish consisting of small dumplings filled with minced meat, typically served with yogurt and garlic sauce.

My Turkish friend shared that because making mantı is very time-intensive, many families opt to use regular pasta as a simplified alternative, hence the name Yalancı Mantı.

ingredients

  • Seasonings: Curry powder (optional), ground paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Meat and Vegetables: Minced beef, onion, garlic, dill.
  • Pasta: Use your favorite pasta variety. For a more protein-packed meal, try using Turkish filled pasta manti, which is similar to tortellini, only much smaller.
  • Dairy: Turkish or Greek yogurt, butter.
  • Garnishes: Fresh parsley, chopped tomatoes, or Turkish tomato salad.

how to make Turkish pasta with yogurt

  1. Cook the beef, onion, curry powder, paprika, tomato paste, salt, and pepper in a skillet until browned.
  2. Prepare the pasta according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  3. Mix yogurt, garlic, dill, salt, and pepper to make the sauce.
  4. Melt butter with paprika over medium heat.
  5. Serve pasta topped with yogurt sauce, paprika butter, chopped tomatoes, and parsley or Turkish tomato salad.

💡Quick tip: Unless you’re using very lean meat, there’s no need to add oil to the pan, as ground meat is already oily enough.
