how to make paleo taco seasoning
This is a summary of how to make paleo taco seasoning. Please find the detailed recipe in the recipe card below.
Okay, so making your own healthy sugar-free taco seasoning is pretty easy. Simply add all the ingredients into a glass jar that has a lid. Or put the spices on a plate and give them all a good mix or shake, until all the spices are well combined, and you are good to go. Easy, isn't it?
how much taco seasoning per pound of meat?
I just never imagined that taco seasoning could have carbs! I assumed it was okay, seeing that it is just a spice! So glad I now know better. This paleo and whole 30 approved taco seasoning is low carb (1 g net carbs per serving), and free from starches, maltodextrin and loads of other preservatives commonly used in store-bought taco seasonings, thereby making it way healthier than the packs you would buy at the stores.
Normally, one tablespoon of this whole 30 approved taco seasoning should be enough for a pound (500 grams) of meat, unless you like it extra spicy, in which case I would say use 1-2 tablespoons more. Use about two tablespoons for recipes that require a pack of taco seasoning.
I always like to start by browning my meat. Next, I add the paleo taco seasoning and finish it off with half a cup of water for each pound of meat. I then allow the liquid to evaporate and add some more spice if I prefer it spicier.
uses
This homemade paleo and keto taco spice mix can be used to season chicken, ground beef, turkey, pork, beans, steak for fajitas, shrimps, kabobs, vegetables and more! I also love to sprinkle some on top of my fries, as weird as it sounds!
