Equipment

Ingredients

  • 3 cold eggs
  • 1 tablespoon cold butter
  • 2 tablespoon heavy cream (you can also use water, milk, stock, or creme fraiche in place of the heavy cream)
  • cup shredded cheddar cheese (use less if preferred)
  • salt (or more to taste)
  • pinch black pepper (or more to taste)

Instructions

  • Coat a cake pan or an oven-safe bowl with butter. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and shredded cheddar cheese. Using your fingers, break the remaining butter into smaller pieces and stir them into the mixture.
3 cold eggs, 1 tablespoon cold butter, 2 tablespoon heavy cream, ⅓ cup shredded cheddar cheese, pinch black pepper, ⅛ salt
  • Pour the egg mixture into the buttered pan and carefully place it in your air fryer basket or trivet. Air fry at 350°F (approximately 180°C) for 8 minutes. Once the cooking time is over, use a spatula to carefully stir the eggs, so that the raw egg comes on top. Close the lid and air fry for a further two minutes, then remove and transfer to a plate and serve (see notes below).

Notes

If using other types of air fryers, i.e. other than the Ninja Foodi, repeat the process, that is, keep cooking and stirring at each two-minute interval until the eggs are properly cooked and are no longer runny. Remove the basket, transfer the scrambled eggs to a plate, garnish as desired (optional), and serve.

Suggested Toppings:
  • top with crumbled feta or parmesan cheese for more of a savory flavor.
  • use a variety of herbs such as dill, chopped chives, oregano, or thyme to garnish.
  • add some sliced sausage or fried bacon to the beaten eggs, just before cooking.
  • you can also make it veggie-packed by adding sliced mushrooms, bell peppers, or some spinach.
