Equipment

  • Small bowl or a spice jar with a lid.
  • Small spoon to combine

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sweet paprika
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar (or a suitable sugar-free alternative such as Sukrin Gold)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin (introduces a sweet and earthy punch)
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (use more if you like your food spicier)

Instructions

  • Combine the sweet and smoked paprika, brown sugar, onion powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, ground cumin, and cayenne pepper in a bowl or in a spice jar.
1 tablespoon sweet paprika , 1 tablespoon smoked paprika, 1 teaspoon brown sugar , 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon black pepper, 1 tablespoon garlic powder, 1 tablespoon ground cumin , 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper, 1 tablespoon salt
  • If using a spice jar, close the lid and shake to combine. Otherwise use a small spoon to combine the ingredients. Store your homemade burger seasoning in an airtight container and keep it in a cool and dry place.

Notes

  • Use a sugar-free brown sugar sweetener to keep it healthier and cut down on carbs or calories!
  • A teaspoon of spice for every pound of meat is a good starting point; simply adjust it to your spice preference.
  • Store your homemade burger seasoning in airtight spice jars or other suitable containers, in a cool and dry place for up to 3 months. I recommend making the spice mix in small batches which one can easily use up, as opposed to one big batch to ensure the burger seasoning still keeps fresh.
